Pure battery electric vehicles, externally rechargeable hybrid electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles can receive an e-license plate upon application.

The application can be submitted as part of the online registration within the registration or transfer within the I-Kfz stage 4.

If it is not possible for the registration authority to clearly assign the vehicle, an expert opinion from a testing organization or a manufacturer's certificate must be submitted as suitable proof.

Externally chargeable hybrid vehicles may have carbon dioxide emissions of no more than 50g/km and must have a minimum range with purely electric drive of 30 km (40 km from 01.01.2018).

Since 01.10.2017, the E license plate can also be assigned as a seasonal license plate.

No special requirements.

If the vehicle is to be registered with an E license plate or transferred to Bremen, no additional fees are due. Please refer to the respective service descriptions for the costs of registration or transfer.

An application for registration must be submitted to the registration authority. The application can also be submitted by a representative (e.g. car dealer) with a written power of attorney.

Customers without an appointment are served in parallel, with priority given to customers with an appointment. Commercial registration requests will continue to be accepted without an appointment.
