In order to be allowed to work as a European lawyer in Germany, you must apply for admission to a bar association.

If you wish to work as a registered European lawyer in Germany, you must be a member of a German bar association.

You must apply for admission to a bar association at the bar association. The bar association will decide on your application. Once you have been admitted to a bar association, you can work as a lawyer under the professional title of your home country. Once you have been admitted, you will receive a certificate from the bar association.

• Certificate from the competent authority in your home country that you are authorized to practice as a European lawyer in your home country.
  • The Bar Association may require that this certificate is not older than 3 months at the time of submission.
    

• You are registered as a European lawyer with the competent authority in your home country.
• You have taken out German professional indemnity insurance or equivalent insurance in your country of origin.

• European lawyers must be members of a bar association in Germany
• Admission to the bar association must be applied for
• A certificate is issued upon admission
• Prerequisites:
  • You are authorized to practice as a European lawyer in your country of origin (certificate required)
  • German professional indemnity insurance or equivalent insurance from the country of origin is available
