As a citizen, you can help shape the Federal Spatial Plan for Flood Protection. You can submit your comments on the draft plan.
The Federal Government plans to improve flood protection in Germany. For this reason, the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Building and the Home Affairs (BMI) is developing a cross-Länder Federal Spatial Development Plan for flood protection. During the preparation of the Federal Spatial Development Plan for Flood Protection, the public was involved at an early stage, e.g. citizens or nature conservation associations. In addition, interdisciplinary authorities and public bodies are involved.

The participation procedure has been completed since 6 November 2020.
The public and the public bodies affected in their interests had the opportunity to comment on the draft Federal Spatial Development Plan for Flood Protection and to submit their comments electronically via the internet by 6 November 2020.
The Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Building and the Home Affairs (BMI) evaluates the comments and considers whether the draft plan should be amended.
The final spatial development plan will be issued as a statutory order by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Construction and Home Affairs (BMI) and is expected to come into force in the 3rd quarter of 2021.
From September 28 to November 6, 2020, the public and the public agencies affected in their interests had the opportunity to comment on the draft federal land use plan for flood protection and to submit comments.
