As a non-governmental organization (NGO), you can voluntarily report private development cooperation activities to the Federal Statistical Office. The data collection serves the purpose of reporting to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Every year, statistics are collected in Germany on the amount of financial contributions to development cooperation. This survey is carried out by the Federal Statistical Office on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Both public contributions and contributions for private development cooperation are taken into account when compiling the annual statistics. The Federal Statistical Office relies on the voluntary reporting of private contributions so that the German contributions can be depicted as comprehensively and realistically as possible.

Private services must be
- be financed from own funds and donations from NGOs (including membership fees).
Under this condition, you can report the following services:
- Services provided by NGOs for projects in developing countries according to the OECD country list
- Development services that are provided in Germany
- For example, measures to raise awareness of development policy such as lectures, brochures, discussion groups
- Administrative, personnel, travel and transportation costs
- These must be necessary for the provision of development cooperation services.
Examples of eligible services are
- peacekeeping
- civil police work
- social and cultural projects
- refugee aid
- research
- counter-terrorism
- Study place costs
You cannot report the following benefits:
- Measures by church organizations such as
- pastoral care
- Training of priests
- Construction of churches
- Services to transition countries that are not included in the OECD's current list of developing countries
- public grants
- Funds that are passed on to other German organizations for their projects.

The survey is carried out annually in spring for the previous reporting year. The deadline for reporting data is generally March 31 of the current year. Please ask the Federal Statistical Office about the possibility of extending the deadline for reporting your data for the current financial year.
