Do you run, represent or manage a railroad company? Then you are obliged to inform the Federal Railway Authority (EBA) about dangerous incidents.
Railroad undertakings (RUs) and railroad infrastructure companies (RIUs) must report hazardous incidents in rail traffic to the Federal Railway Authority (EBA), so-called incident reports.
Accidents and incidents must be reported on a quarterly basis; particularly serious hazardous incidents must be reported immediately.

When you report an incident, you must describe the incident. Please state
- the consequences
- the causes identified,
- the measures taken.
You do not have to submit any documents. However, if further reports and documents are required to process the incident report, the EBA will request these documents from you.

- Railroad operations manager
- Representative of railroad operations managers or
- a safety manager in a railroad undertaking or a railroad infrastructure company.
Note: You can also report an incident if you have been instructed to do so by the above-mentioned persons.
You can report dangerous incidents in rail traffic online or by e-mail.
Submit incident reports online:
- Go to the website of the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de and open the online application for incident reports in rail traffic.
- The online form will guide you step by step through the required information.
- Note: You need the federal user account or the ELSTER company account to submit the online application.
- Submit the event report.
- The EBA will check your notification.
- If necessary, the EBA will request further information.
- The EBA will only send you a decision if an administrative procedure is opened due to the reported incident.

- Send the completed form by e-mail to the responsible office at the EBA.

Note: The notification applies to quarterly notifications and immediate notifications.
You must report a particularly serious incident or accident to the EBA immediately.
A quarterly report must be submitted by the end of each quarter.
