An official voters' register is kept in each constituency. Eligible voters who are registered there on the 42nd day with their main residence are entered ex officio in the register and receive a voter's notification no later than three weeks before election day.
If you would like to be entered in the voters' register of a city or municipality in which you are not listed (for example, because you have recently moved), you have the opportunity to apply for this up to the 21st day before the election.
Objection / Correction
If you have not received a voter's notification within three weeks before the election, you should check with your city or municipal administration during the inspection period between the 20th and 16th day before the election whether you are entered in the voters' register. If the entry is missing, although you think you are entitled to vote, the list can still be corrected on your objection.
In most cases, a copy of the registration confirmation from the city or municipal administration is sufficient as proof.
- The city or municipal administration has not entered you ex officio in the voters' register.
- You believe that you are entitled to vote.
You can consult the voters' register of your city or municipality on the working days from the 20th to the 16th day before the election during the general opening hours of your municipal administration.
If you have not been entered on the voters' register, you must immediately apply in writing or in person for inclusion in the voters' register. The municipal administration will then check again whether you are entitled to vote in the upcoming election. .
Your informal written request should contain the following information:
- your surname,
- Your first names
- your date of birth,
- your home address,
- Your signature
- and the wording 'Objection to the electoral roll and application for entry on the electoral roll'
If your objection is upheld and you are subsequently entered in the voters' register, you will immediately receive a voter's notification. If the municipal administration determines that your objection cannot be upheld, you will also be notified immediately.
You can apply for entry in the voters' register no later than the 21st day before the election; thereafter, an amendment is only possible on timely objection or, in cases of obvious inaccuracy, ex officio.
