You can extend your driver's license to include category L (colloquially known as a "small tractor driver's license")
You can add category L to your driving license.
The category L driving license is the ''small'' tractor driving license. It allows you to carry out agricultural or forestry work at the age of 16, but only at a maximum speed of 40 km/h and a maximum speed of 25 km/h with a trailer.
- Designation of a driving school
- Identity card or passport (including registration certificate if applicable)

- Proof of participation in a first aid training course
- Proof of eyesight according to Annex 6 No. 1.1 of the FeV (not older than 2 years)
- You must be in possession of a driver's license
- You must have your main residence in the Federal Republic of Germany
- You must have reached the minimum age of 16 years (§ 10 Driving License Ordinance).
The driving license authority charges fees in accordance with the scale of fees for road traffic measures.
You must submit an application to extend your driving license to category L to the driving license authority responsible for you.
The practical examination must be taken within twelve months of passing the theoretical examination. Otherwise the theoretical examination loses its validity.

- The following vehicles can be driven with a category L license:
- agricultural or forestry tractors with a maximum design speed of 40 km/h and
- combinations of these vehicles and trailers if they are driven at a maximum speed of 25 km/h and
- self-propelled machinery, feed mixers, forklifts and other industrial trucks, each with a maximum design speed of 25 km/h, and
- combinations of these vehicles and trailers
