Villages make Hesse strong! The state government supports committed initiatives with the "STRONG VILLAGE+" funding program. Applicants can apply for between €1,000 and €7,500 for projects to maintain or create vibrant places of togetherness.
The "Strong Village+" funding program supports projects and associated processes in rural areas of Hesse that strengthen social cohesion and togetherness and improve the quality of life and amenities in village centers. The aim is to preserve or create places that contribute to the common good.
The funding program comprises three funding approaches that are effective at different stages of the project planning and implementation process:
- Project support and project consulting (formerly the "Old meeting place - new coat of paint" model project): Funding is provided for coaching and consulting services, e.g. orientation consulting in the idea phase, process support during the implementation of the project, expert advice and expert opinions, advice on drawing up usage agreements.
- Implementation of small projects (formerly "STARKES DORF - Wir machen mit!"): Funding is provided for small projects for the joint design of public places, for example to increase the quality of stay in a square or measures to upgrade village community centers, for example.
- Establishment of citizens' cooperatives: Funding is provided for the establishment of citizens' cooperatives as an innovative form of organization for committed individuals in various areas of public services.
Initiatives can receive annual funding of 1,000 euros up to a maximum of 7,500 euros per funding approach. A personal contribution of ten percent of the total project volume is required. Groups of people who have come together as an initiative (e.g. civic societies, foundations, associations) are eligible to apply.
600,000 euros are available each year.
