Valid identity card or passport (with current registration certificate if applicable)

- Depending on the driving license category you are applying for, you should provide the following documents
- You must have your main residence in the Federal Republic of Germany
- You must have reached the required minimum age
- You must be qualified to drive motor vehicles
- You must have been trained to drive motor vehicles in accordance with the Driving Instructors Act and the legal provisions based on it
- You must have demonstrated your ability to drive motor vehicles in a theoretical and practical test
- They must be able to provide first aid and provide the necessary proof of this
- They must meet and prove the requirements for eyesight
- You must not hold a driving license in this category issued in a member state of the European Union or another state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area

You must submit an application for the relevant driving license category to the relevant driving license authority.
The processing time depends on the workload of the responsible driving license authority.
The application for the initial issue of a driving license expires if the theory test has not been passed within twelve months of receipt of the test order or the practical test has not been passed within twelve months of passing the theory test
