In Hesse, land consolidation is an important instrument for integrated rural development through measures
- to improve the agricultural structure,
- village renewal,
- for the near-natural development of water bodies
- water retention,
- to protect the soil and improve the microclimate,
- to protect nature,
- for landscape conservation,
- to improve leisure and recreational functions,
- to improve the (transport) infrastructure and
- to preserve and develop cultural landscapes.
As a collective term, land consolidation comprises
- the five types of procedure under the Land Consolidation Act (integral land consolidation, corporate land consolidation, simplified land development procedure, accelerated consolidation and voluntary land swaps),
- infrastructure measures adapted to the rural character,
- land management and
- the SILEK.
Land consolidation
The purpose of carrying out procedures in accordance with the Land Consolidation Act is to enable and sustainably secure the use of land (land use) in a manner that is typical of the region, economically viable and environmentally compatible on the basis of conceptual guidelines and in a socially acceptable manner.
Infrastructure measures adapted to the rural character
In order to tap into the agricultural and tourism development potential in rural areas, infrastructure measures outside of procedures under the Land Consolidation Act can be supported.
Land management
Land management supports the sustainable development of rural areas outside of standardized procedures through the moderation, control and monitoring of processes.
SILEK
SILEK is an integrated rural development concept limited to a spatial and thematic focus, the preparation of which can be funded in the run-up to procedures under the Land Consolidation Act. With the intensive involvement of the population, opportunities for a specific area are analyzed in a joint process, development goals are identified and projects are initiated to strengthen the sustainable development capacity of the area.
