The approval process begins with an application from the forest owner or an authorized person. The forestry authority must first inform other authorities about the application, which can then comment on it. The district or independent city and the land consolidation authority are always informed. The regional planning authority and the Chamber of Agriculture are only informed if their interests are affected.
- The planting of new woodland must be approved.
- Permission is granted by the forestry authority.
- Applications for initial afforestation permits are accepted by the responsible regional forestry offices.
- Reforestation cannot be approved if it conflicts with regional planning, nature conservation or agricultural structure concerns.
