If your vehicle is no longer where you parked it, there are two possibilities: It has been stolen or towed away. As you do not know which of these two cases applies, you should first contact the responsible authority in your municipality. This is the police or the responsible regulatory authority. They will then tell you whether your vehicle has actually been towed away.

If this is the case, you will also find out which towing service towed your car and where it is now.

The amount of the costs for a towing operation is calculated

• according to the type of vehicle (e.g. car, truck, bus), the time of towing and the length of time the vehicle is with the towing company = towing costs
• according to the cost of deploying the personnel and equipment of the public order and traffic service = administrative charges

Parking incorrectly also generally constitutes an administrative offense. Depending on the type, you will be informed of this in a warning or report and a warning or fine will be imposed. The amount of the warning or fine depends on the parking offense.

Costs are also incurred if the towing company has been commissioned but you have moved your vehicle before the tow truck arrives. In this case, the towing order will no longer be carried out, but the empty run of the tow truck must be paid for.
