Only one practical test needs to be taken in each case.

You must submit an application for the issue/extension of a driver's license.
Please contact the driving license authority in the place where you have your main residence.
You must apply for the extension of your driving license at the driving license office in your place of residence. You can apply for an extension at the earliest six months before you reach the minimum age required for the relevant driving license category. After the application has been submitted, the competent driving license authority will check whether there are any objections to the extension of your driving license (category). As soon as the driving license authority has completed its examination, the driving license authority will send your driving license to the TÜV and issue the inspection order. The TÜV will then notify your driving school of the receipt of your papers. Now nothing stands in the way of your test.
Attention with first aid: Since the last amendment to the driving license ordinance, proof of a first aid course is required for the extension. If you have not yet completed such a course, but only the instruction in life-saving emergency measures, you must do so when you extend your license!
In light of the implementation of the 3rd EC Driving License Directive, all driving licenses issued after January 19, 2013 will only be valid for 15 years. All driving licenses issued before January 19, 2013 will remain valid for the time being, but must be exchanged by January 19, 2033 at the latest. A new driving test or health check is not planned. The time limit is intended to ensure that only driving licenses that meet all the requirements of the directive are in circulation from January 19, 2033.

- An application is required for the extension
- Certain requirements must be met
