Do you have questions about housing, main residence and/or secondary residence? You can find out more here.
An apartment is any enclosed space that you use for living or sleeping. Accommodation on board naval vessels is also considered a dwelling. Caravans and residential vessels are only considered to be dwellings if they are not moved at all or are hardly moved at all.
If you have several dwellings, a distinction is made between your main and secondary residence. Your main home is the home you mainly use. Your other dwelling or dwellings are then your secondary dwelling or secondary residences.
If you move in, move house or move out, you must comply with various registration obligations.
Under the following conditions, it is a dwelling in the sense of registration law:
- an enclosed room,
- this is used for living or sleeping.
After moving into an apartment, you must register with the registration office within two weeks.
