As a German or a national of the European Union who has reached the age of 16 on election day, you are entitled to vote in the electoral area in which you have had your residence, main residence or habitual abode without a residence outside the electoral area since at least the 16th day before the election.

You will be entered in the electoral roll ex officio as a person entitled to vote if you are entitled to vote on the 42nd day before the election and are not excluded from the right to vote. If you have moved in and are registered after the 42nd day but up to the 16th day before the election, you will be entered in the voters' register ex officio.

If this does not happen, you can apply to be entered by the start of the inspection period. You will be granted access on working days from the 20th to the 16th day before the election during the general opening hours of the municipal authority.

You can check the accuracy and completeness of your own data. You can also check the data of other persons if you yourself are entitled to vote and can provide credible evidence that the electoral roll is incorrect or incomplete.

You can lodge an objection to the electoral roll with the municipal administration in writing or for the record within the inspection period. If you lodge an objection based on the data of another person, this person must be heard before a decision is made by the authority. The mayor must notify the decision to the objector and the person concerned, if applicable, no later than the 10th day before the election. An appeal against the mayor's decision may be lodged within 3 days of notification, on which the supervisory authority shall decide.

The electoral roll for municipal elections can be corrected under the following conditions:
