Members of the profession may exercise their professional duties in the form of partnerships and partnerships with limited professional liability. The protected professional title "architect", "interior architect", "landscape architect", "landscape architect" or "urban planner" may only be used in the name of the partnership if the partnership is entered in the company register of the NRW Chamber of Architects.

A partnership with its registered office in North Rhine-Westphalia in which at least one person with the protected professional title of "architect", "interior architect", "landscape architect" or "urban planner" is involved must be entered in the register of companies of the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects.
In accordance with the provisions of Sections 30 and 31 of the NRW Chamber of Architects Act, the partnership agreement must stipulate that the professional obligations are observed by the partnership.
The partnership is obliged to take out professional indemnity insurance to cover the liability risks arising from the activity for the duration of the entry in the partnership register; the professional indemnity insurance must provide for a five-year subsequent liability.
The minimum sum insured for each insured event is EUR 1.5 million for personal injury and EUR 250,000 for property damage and financial loss. The insurer's benefits for all losses caused within an insurance year can be limited to three times the minimum sum insured.
For partnerships with limited professional liability (PartGmbB), the minimum sum insured is EUR 1.5 million for personal injury and EUR 1 million for property damage and financial loss for each insured event in accordance with § 31 Para. 3 BauKaG NRW.
The application is submitted to the Registration Committee of the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia for a decision. The registration committee is an independent body that is not bound by instructions and reviews whether the requirements for registration are met.
A partnership company does not become a member of the Chamber of Architects when it is entered in the register of companies.
