Upon request (informally), affected persons can obtain information about the data stored about them from the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. However, the information can also be refused.
This is the case, in particular, where the provision of information
- there would be a threat of endangering the fulfilment of the tasks of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution,
- news access by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution could be endangered,
- the investigation of the state of knowledge or the working methods of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution would be to be feared,
- public safety could be endangered, or
- other legal provisions or legitimate interests of third parties so require.
In order to prevent misuse, proof of identity, e.g. a copy of the identity card, is required
