Before your child starts school, an enrolment examination is carried out to assess your child's level of development.
Before your child is allowed to go to school, he or she must be examined by a public health officer.
During a school enrolment examination, tests are carried out on speech, motor skills (movement) and knowledge in order to assess your child's level of development.
The doctor will examine your child physically and carry out a hearing and eye test. The school medical examination is required by law.
For the examination you will need
- Examination booklet (yellow booklet)
- vaccination card
- Completed parental questionnaire (will be sent to you with the proposed appointment)
- if available: Glasses, hearing aids
- Minimum age 5 years
- The examination takes place 1 year before the child starts school.
- Your child must be enrolled in elementary school
- The school enrollment examination takes place one year before the start of school.
- You will be informed of the date of the examination.
- The medical examination will be carried out in your presence.
- This is followed by a consultation with the doctor.
To avoid waiting times, an appointment will be made for the examination. If you are unable to keep the appointment, please let us know in good time. A new appointment will then be arranged.
The school entry examination is carried out by the child and youth medical service in the presence of the parents. It serves to determine the child's state of health and development. The aim is to find out whether the necessary prerequisites for starting school are present. These include your child's physical, mental, psychological, social and emotional abilities. If any impairments are identified during the school enrolment examination, individual support measures can be recommended and initiated in good time.
