If you yourIf you have completed your retraining with the retraining examination, you can request a duplicate of the original certificate or an English or French translation.

If you complete a retraining course in a recognized training occupation, you must pass a retraining examination at the end. Once you have passed the examination, you will automatically receive an examination certificate.

You can apply for a duplicate of the certificate. You can apply for the results of your vocational school achievements to be listed on the certificate. You can also apply for an English and a French translation.

• For duplicate: Application for reissue
• For translations: Application for translation into English or French
• For listing of achievements:
  • Application for listing of vocational school achievements
  • Proof of vocational school achievements (copy)

You have passed the final examination

Fees may be charged for a duplicate or translation. Please contact your responsible office for more information.

To receive further copies of your certificate, you must submit an application for your certificate to be issued.

If you would like a duplicate:

• Contact your competent authority to find out how to apply for a further copy of the certificate
• Submit an application for an additional copy of the certificate

If you would like an English or French translation:

• Ask your competent authority about the procedure for requesting a translation
• Submit an application for a translation

If you would like to have your vocational school achievements listed on your certificate:

• Find out about the application procedure from your competent authority

Submit the application for the listing of vocational school achievements to the relevant vocational school or the institution where you completed your retraining and enclose a copy of the proof of these achievements

By successfully passing the retraining examination, you will achieve an educational qualification at level 4 in the German Qualifications Framework. This means that you have the skills required to independently plan and work on specialist tasks in a comprehensive, changing field of learning or professional field of activity.

  • Duplicate of the certificate
  • The certificate in English and French translation
  • The vocational school achievements on the certificate
• Receipt of a written notification in the event of a failed examination
  • Contains information on examination performance and on retaking the examination
• Responsible: usually the competent chamber
  • Exception: otherwise determined by the state or federal government
  • Exception: retraining has taken place under the responsibility of the public service or religious communities under public law

Contact the chamber responsible for your vocational training. This can be

• the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for vocational training in non-trade professions,
• the Chamber of Skilled Crafts for vocational training in professions under the Crafts Code,
• the Chamber of Agriculture for vocational training in agricultural and rural domestic professions
• the Chamber of Lawyers, Patent Attorneys and Notaries as well as the Notary's Office for the vocational training of specialists in the field of law,
• the Chamber of Auditors and the Chamber of Tax Consultants for the vocational training of professionals in the field of auditing and tax consultancy,
• the Chambers of Physicians, Dentists, Veterinarians and Pharmacists for the vocational training of healthcare professionals.

There are other competent bodies,for example for bodies in the area of public law and the churches.
