If you want to carry out training courses for dangerous goods drivers, you must be recognized as a training organizer by the locally responsible IHK.
Recognition can be applied for for the basic course, tank advanced course, advanced class 1 course, advanced class 7 course and refresher training.
For this purpose, an application to the locally responsible Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) is required. The application must contain, among other things, the following information:
- indicate the scope of recognition (basic course, tank advanced course, advanced course class 1, advanced course class 7),
- the lesson plans for the initial and refresher training on the basis of the IHK course plans,
- the place of training, in particular for the practical parts of the course such as training and fire extinguishing site,
- the times, taking into account breaks and travel times to and from the place of the training for the practical parts of the course (travel times are not added to the planned teaching units)
- the assignment of the topics to the subject area of the respective course plan
- the type of teaching (methodological didactic requirements)
- the marking of the practical parts
- the professional qualification of the teachers as well as the proof of competence to impart knowledge in an adult-friendly manner by means of corresponding certificates/proofs/certificates
- the existing teaching material,
- the training facility and its equipment

As a course organizer, you must have the necessary premises for the implementation of the theoretical teaching units of the partly practical parts of the course as well as the necessary training material. In addition, your teaching staff must be professionally and pedagogically qualified.
The responsible Chamber of Industry and Commerce can inspect your premises and teaching materials. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce can also contact the persons specified by you as teachers in order to arrange appointments for any additional assessment interviews that may be required.
If the requirements are met, the recognition is confirmed by a recognition notice from the locally responsible IHK. This shows for which courses the training may be carried out.
- Course plans/sample lesson plan (timetable) for the requested training courses with the following information:
- Lesson scheduling (with breaks)
- Topic to be dealt with including the planned time approaches
- Type of lesson (e.B lecture, teaching discussion, technical media, film lecture, practical exercises)
- Documents of the teachers employed as proof of professional and methodological aptitude
- Professional career
- Proof of general knowledge of dangerous goods transport law
- Proof of special knowledge for the respective training parts
- Proof of the ability to impart knowledge in an adult-friendly manner
- Presentation of a valid ADR certificate for all classes (in tanks and other than in tanks)
- Declaration of readiness to carry out the speaker's activity
- Curriculum according to the course plans specified by the IHK
- Suitable premises and facilities, including for prescribed practical exercises
- Suitable teaching material
- Qualified teaching staff
You first apply for recognition as a training organiser to your local Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).
- The IHK first examines the submitted documents such as curricula and teaching materials.
- If necessary, representatives of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce visit the teaching institution and check its suitability on site. If necessary, assessment interviews with the teaching staff take place.
- After examination of documents and teaching venue, you will receive a notification of recognition from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
After your training facility has been recognized, you may offer courses for dangerous goods officers within the scope of the permit.
The examination of the application should take place within three weeks of receipt, depending on the documents submitted. Conducting an assessment interview with the teachers may lead to a longer processing time.
