You want to adopt a related child? The adoption center advises and accompanies you through the next steps. Here you can learn more about the process.
In a relative adoption, a related child, such as a niece, nephew or grandchild, is adopted.
In contrast to full adoption, only the child's relationship to both natural parents is terminated, but not that to his or her other relatives.
Whether the adopting parents are suitable and the best interests of the child can be guaranteed must be examined just as carefully as in the case of adoption by a third party.
The best interests of the child always come first. A parent-child relationship must be created by the adoption.
In the case of relationships up to the third degree, in contrast to full adoption, only the relationship of the child to both natural parents is terminated, but not that to its other relatives.

The prerequisite is the establishment of a parent-child relationship and the consent of the natural parents. If the child is 14 years or older, he or she must also give his or her consent.
