A certificate in tax matters is required if you need to prove your tax reliability. For taxes that are assessed by the municipality or city (e.g. trade tax, property tax), the municipality or city will issue you with a certificate of compliance with your tax obligations upon request (certificate in municipal tax matters).
The certificate is limited to a non-judgmental statement of tax facts, in particular your payment history as a taxpayer and refers to the current situation, taking into account your past behavior as a taxpayer. The certificate in tax matters is required in particular for submission to authorities in approval procedures (e.g. for the granting of trade licenses), but may also be required for submission to public and private clients.
