Women who are insured under the statutory health insurance scheme receive maternity benefit for the period of maternity protection.
Women who are insured under the statutory health insurance scheme receive maternity benefit for the period of maternity protection.
The amount of maternity benefit is regulated as follows:
- Members of a statutory health insurance fund who are employed at the beginning of the maternity protection period receive maternity benefit in the amount of their net pay. It amounts to a maximum of EUR 13.00 per calendar day. If the net pay exceeds EUR 13.00 per day, the excess amount is paid by the employer as a "maternity allowance supplement".
- All other members of a health insurance fund are paid maternity benefit in the amount of the sickness benefit.
