- Gesundheitsuntersuchungs–Richtlinie
From the age of 18 until the age of 34, you are entitled to a medical check-up once.
From the age of 35, you are entitled to a health check-up every three years (formerly Check-up 35). The health check-up is used for the early detection of common diseases such as cardiovascular disease, kidney disease and diabetes.
The health check-up includes the following services, among others:
- interview with the patient, taking a personal, family and social history and recording the risk profile,
- clinical examinations (physical examination including blood pressure measurement),
- blood (total cholesterol and glucose) and urine tests (protein, glucose, red and white blood cells, nitrite),
- advice on the results of the examination, advice on lifestyle changes if medically necessary.
If a disease is suspected, the doctor will ensure that further targeted diagnostics are carried out and any necessary medical measures are initiated.
The health examination for the early detection of diseases should - as far as possible - be offered in conjunction with an examination for the early detection of cancer.
To have the health check-up carried out, you must make an appointment with your family doctor.
