At the Abendoberschule (evening secondary school), adults have the opportunity to obtain the Hauptschulabschluss , the qualifying Hauptschulabschluss or the Realschulabschluss (forms of secondary school qualification). The classes take place in parallel to work.

As a rule, an informal application is sufficient, but it is better to find out about the formalities of applying in advance from the school administration.

You must submit the following documents with your application:

• a complete curriculum vitae in tabular form with a photograph
• your identity card or a corresponding proof of identity
• a certified copy of your secondary school qualifications certificate or school leaving certificate
• a declaration as to whether and, if so, where and with what success you have already taken the examination to obtain the qualification you are seeking or an equivalent qualification

You have already completed compulsory education and do not already have the qualification you are aiming for or an equivalent qualification.

In order to attend an evening secondary school, you must register with the school beforehand.

• The school administration decides on admission to the school.
• You will be informed of the decision in writing.

For admission in the following school year, you usually have to register by the middle of the year. The exact dates are announced annually.
