The city or municipal administration creates a list of eligible voters for each electoral district before the election. All citizens entitled to vote who were registered as having their main residence in the city or municipality on the 42nd day before the election are entered.

The electoral roll is open for public inspection from the 20th to the 16th day before the election - the administration will announce the time and place.

If you are not entered in the electoral roll although you are entitled to vote, you have the opportunity to have your entry amended by lodging an objection with the city or municipal administration. You can also have incorrect or incomplete information in the electoral roll corrected by lodging an objection.

If necessary, evidence to prove that the correction of the electoral roll is necessary (example: your registration confirmation from the city or municipal administration).

• You realise that you are not entered in the electoral roll or that your details are incorrect/incomplete.

Submit your objection (local elections: request for correction) informally in writing to the city or municipal administration or explain it there in person for the record.

Your letter should contain at least

• the reason for your objection/application for rectification (with supporting documents if necessary)
• Your first and last names
• Your date of birth
• Your residential address
• Your signature

The city or municipal administration will inform you immediately whether the correction will be made.

• Objection to the electoral roll (local elections: request for correction): during the inspection period (20th to 16th day before the election)
• Decision on the objection/request for correction: no later than ten days before the election

You can lodge an appeal against the decision of the city or municipal administration within two days of notification to the district electoral officer (local elections: to the legal supervisory authority, the competent authority is the local district office and in the independent cities of Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig - the Saxony State Directorate).
