If you are a late repatriate entitled under the Federal Expellees Act, you can apply to your local Chamber of Industry and Commerce for a determination of equivalence with a German vocational qualification.
- Application for equality/recognition, in writing and signed by hand
- Copy of identity card or passport
- official documents in case of name change (for example marriage certificate, registry office documents)
- curriculum vitae
- officially certified copy of the federal ID card of the expellees
- German translation of the original document and the original certificate by a translator sworn in by a court in Germany
- Workbook with German translation
- Declaration that no application has been made to any other chamber of industry and commerce, chamber of handicrafts or other body for verification of these documents
Note: All copies must be submitted in officially certified form; translations must be done by a publicly appointed translator.
For persons entitled under the Federal Expellees Act, the recognition of examinations or certificates of qualification is free of charge if the application is submitted within three years of the start of permanent residence in the Federal Republic.
Otherwise, a fee of EUR 20.00 to EUR 60.00 will be charged for the examination and processing of the application, depending on the fee tariff of the responsible IHK.
The completed application form and all required documents can be
