Application for a grant towards the costs of commercial energy advice in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

Do you want to reduce your current operating costs? An energy consultation can uncover unused savings potential in your company. The Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) can apply for a grant for expert, independent energy advice to help you find the best measures and opportunities for your business.

An energy consultant approved by BAFA will analyse the weak points of energy use in your company as part of an initial consultation in order to identify potential energy savings. In addition, the implementation of the identified savings potentials up to the commissioning of measures should also be accompanied by energy consultants.

• for energy costs up to EUR 10,000/year: 80% of the eligible consultancy costs (net consultancy fee), maximum EUR 1,200
• for energy costs above EUR 10,000/year: 60 % of the eligible consultancy costs (net consultancy fee), maximum EUR 8,000

Notes:

• It is not possible to combine the "Energy Advice for SMEs" grant with other public grants.
• There is no legal entitlement to the funding.

Eligible applicants

• small and medium-sized enterprises in trade and industry and other service industries
• Members of the liberal professions

The registered office and business operations must be in Germany.

In particular, companies that are granted relief within the framework of the Spitzenausgleich (Section 10 Electricity Tax Act and Section 55 Energy Tax Act (Energiesteuergesetz)) are not eligible to apply, nor are companies that have submitted an application in the current or previous calendar year pursuant to Sections 63 et seq. EEG (special equalisation scheme).

The application is free of charge for you.

You must cover the following expenses yourself:

• Your share of the counsellor's fee
• the travel expenses of the consultant
• the value added tax on the total net invoice amount

• Contact an approved energy efficiency advisor ("Energy efficiency experts, advisor search") and obtain an advisory quote.
• Once you have the cost estimate, you can apply for the grant using the electronic procedure.
• Once the consultancy has been completed, you submit a proof of use and the consultancy report.

Note: If necessary, you can apply for implementation support individually after completing the energy efficiency advice.

Submit your application before you make use of the counselling service. The start of the measure is considered to be the conclusion of the performance contract. You can take advantage of the implementation support (to be applied for individually) at your own risk as soon as your application has been received by the Federal Office.
