Application for special benefits for self-determined living for people with disabilities (integration assistance law) according to §§ 90 ff. of the Ninth Book of the Social Code (SGB IX)
Since 01.01.2020, people with disabilities or people threatened by disabilities have a claim to benefits according to the law on integration assistance of the Ninth Book of the Social Code (SGB IX). This does not apply for assistance for the blind. This is still part of the social assistance law according to SGB XII.
The benefits of integration assistance include:
- Benefits for medical rehabilitation (corresponding to the rehabilitation benefits provided by the statutory health insurance funds)
- Services for participation in working life
(e.g. Services in the working area of recognised workshops for disabled people, budget for work) - Benefits for participation in education
(e.g. Assistance with school education, in particular the granting of a school companion, assistance with school or university education or further training for a profession) - Social participation benefits
(e.g. Housing benefits, assistance benefits, curative education benefits, mobility benefits)
- Proof of income and assets,
- Documents on the existing disability, such as: medical reports, documents in connection with the benefit applied for
Details can be obtained from the office responsible for the application and in the advice centres.
- Affected persons are entitled to benefits from integration assistance if they are significantly restricted in their equal participation in society.
- Depending on the type of benefit and the level of income, a contribution must be made and assets must be used to finance the expenses.
You can apply for integration assistance after making an appointment at the competent office, in writing by post or fax, or informally by e-mail. Take advantage of the counselling services offered by the Kommunaler Sozialverband Sachsen (KSV) and the independent counselling centres (EUTB).
The application can be made by
- You personally,
- Your representative with power of attorney
- Your legal representative.
Once the application has been submitted, the designated overall plan procedure will be carried out. Within the framework of the overall plan procedure, the individual needs in particular will also be determined.
The services of integration assistance are generally provided by the districts and the independent cities. The Saxony Municipal Social Association provides the following services
- in the area of social participation for people who have reached 18 years of age and
- who either live in a special form of accommodation or
- are looked after in a day-care facility.
In addition, the Saxony Municipal Social Welfare Association is responsible for the following
- Benefits for employment in a workshop for disabled people or with another benefit provider,
- Assistance for higher education and further training at work,
- Benefits for the acquisition and operation of a motor vehicle, and
- all benefits of integration assistance for Germans abroad
