If you have to dispose of more than 2 tonnes of hazardous waste per year, you need a waste producer number.

You need the waste producer number for waste disposal certificates and consignment notes in order to enable a clear allocation of your individual waste generation sites in waste law procedures. You also need the number for entry in the so-called transfer note if waste is collected and disposed of with a collective waste disposal certificate. A maximum of 20 tonnes per calendar year, source and waste code is permitted for this.
The waste producer number:

• is a nine-digit identification number that you need as a waste producer or waste owner in order to be able to participate in the electronic waste records procedure (elektronisches Abfallnachweisverfahren, eANV) when disposing of hazardous waste,
• identifies the place where the waste is generated or accumulates,
• is necessary, among other things, to be able to prove the proper and environmentally sound disposal of hazardous waste.

If you have several operating sites where hazardous waste is generated, you must apply for a separate waste producer number for each site.

• Business registration (when applying for a company-related identification number) or extract from the commercial register (copy)

You are a producer or owner of waste.

Administration fee: EUR 30.00 to EUR 85.00

• You can apply for the waste producer number from the competent authorities in writing or electronically.
• The competent body will check the application received and, if necessary, make additional requests for the submission of missing or inadequate documents.
• If the information and documents are complete and plausible, the competent body will issue an identification number and inform you of this.

In the event of a move, the previous generator number becomes invalid. Please apply for a new waste producer number for the new location.

In the event of a company name change, the previous producer number remains valid if there is no change in legal identity.
