Do you experience financial changes while receiving BAföG? You must notify us of these changes.

If you receive BAföG, you must notify us of any changes to your previous application details.

Some changes lead to an increase or decrease in your entitlement.

These include

• Change due to enrollment in health and long-term care insurance
• Change in your income
• Change in your parents' income
• Change in the income of your spouse or civil partner
• Change in your accommodation costs
• Birth of your child

If your entitlement increases, you will receive more money each month.

If your entitlement is reduced, you will receive less money. You may have to pay back the excess BAföG.

• Proof of the change (e.g. salary statements)

There have been changes in your personal circumstances that lead to a change in your BAföG entitlement

None.

If something changes in your situation, you must inform the Office for Educational Support immediately.

You can do this in writing or online. You must also submit the relevant supporting documents with your change application.

If your entitlement has increased, you will receive a notification of change and the increased amount will be paid to you. The amount will also be refunded retroactively if you have notified us of all changes in good time.

If your entitlement is reduced, you will receive less BAföG from the following month. It will also be checked whether you have received too much BAföG in the past, which you will then have to reimburse.

You must notify us of the changes immediately.

You must inform the Office for Educational Support of any changes to your name and address. If your studies and BAföG entitlement have already ended, please also inform the Federal Office of Administration of the change of name and address.

Changes in personal and financial circumstances can lead to a change in BAföG entitlement. The BAföG beneficiary must inform the Office for Educational Assistance immediately.

For pupils:

The offices for educational support of the districts or independent cities are responsible for student support under the BAföG in Germany. For trainees at evening high schools, colleges, higher technical colleges and academies, the Office for Training Assistance in whose district the training institution is located is responsible. For all other pupils, the Office for Educational Support of the city/district administration at the parents' place of residence is generally responsible.

For students:

For student support under the BAföG in Germany, the student services of the universities at which enrollment has taken place or will take place are responsible.

For education abroad:

Central international offices in Germany -- different ones depending on the destination country -- are responsible for funding abroad in accordance with BAföG, both for students and pupils. You can find the right international office on the homepage.
