You are planning to continue your studies at a Saarland university and would like many of your previous achievements to be recognized. Then apply for recognition of your previous achievements at the university where you would like to start your studies.

The coursework and examinations you completed and passed at your previous university will be recognized for your newly selected degree program if they are equivalent. The equivalence of your previous academic achievements will be checked during the recognition process. In this context, the following are compared in particular

• Content / learning outcomes / quality
• Level (e.g. Bachelor, Master)
• Time required (workload) or presentation of the workload (ECTS credits)
• Profile

If equivalence is established, recognition will be granted. Recognition of non-university competencies can be granted for up to 50% of the credits to be acquired. In the event of successful recognition or crediting, this work does not have to be completed again. It is not necessary to take part in the corresponding examination (not even for reasons of grade improvement). It should also be noted that the application must be submitted in good time (as defined in Section 26 of the Framework Examination Regulations).

Note: If you change universities, please enquire about the relevant formalities at the new university.
