The legal basis is the matriculation regulations of the respective university in the currently valid version.

Would you like to attend individual courses at a university without being enrolled? Then apply for guest auditor status.

Guest students have the opportunity to get to know the university and the course and to further their education. Saarland's state universities offer guest students the opportunity to attend individual courses within the scope of their capacities. Prerequisites include an application to be submitted to the respective university and the payment of a fee.

A non-exhaustive selection:

• Application for guest auditor status at the respective university,
• Proof of identity,
• Proof of payment of the fee for guest students on the basis of the respective applicable regulations on the basis of the respective applicable regulations,
• Proof of payment of the contribution to accident, liability and theft insurance in accordance with the respective contribution regulations,
• Admission for guest participation in a desired course, please enquire at your chosen university about the relevant requirements.

The prerequisite for attending a course as a guest auditor is the consent of the lecturer or the prior approval of a course for guest auditors by the respective department. Proof of a university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur) is not required, but guest students must - with exceptions - meet the same general admission requirements as students at the HfM Saar. Guest auditor status is limited in time and subject to a fee.

The universities charge guest student fees depending on the scope of the desired courses. Please enquire on the website of your chosen university about the respective amounts, the number of possible semester hours per week, the payment deadlines and payment methods.

The completed application for guest auditor status must be submitted to the respective university by the deadline and the guest auditor fee must be paid.

You can find out which courses are offered at a university on the website of your chosen university. Some universities offer separate directories for guest students.

Once the application has been received by the relevant university office and proof of payment of the fees due has been provided, the application will be reviewed. In order for the application for guest auditor status to be approved, the amount due for guest auditor status must be credited to the university's account. Please contact the respective university to find out when and how the amount is to be paid. The right to attend the desired courses arises with the approved application for guest auditor status.

The processing time varies within the legally prescribed deadlines depending on the degree program.

UdS and htw saar: You will usually receive your letter of admission in August if you are applying for the winter semester and in February if you are applying for the summer semester.

HBKsaar: The processing time is one week after receipt of all required documents.
HfM Saar: The processing time is one week after receipt of all required documents.

UdS and htw saar: The deadlines set by the university apply.

HBKsaar: Admission takes place no later than two weeks after the start of the lecture period.
HfM Saar: Admission takes place no later than two weeks after the start of the lecture period, analogous to the application deadlines.

Guest students from the university can only be admitted within the framework of the available study options. If the capacity of a desired course is already exhausted due to the number of regular students, participation as a guest student cannot be guaranteed.
