Fahrerlaubnis für die Klasse B beantragen

If you want to drive a car weighing up to 3,500 kilograms, you must apply for a category B driving license.

With a class B driving license, you can drive motor vehicles (motor vehicles) with a maximum permissible total mass of 3.5 tons. The motor vehicle may also not be designed for more than eight people (in addition to the driver).

You can transport trailers weighing less than 750 kilograms with driving license category B. If the total mass of the vehicle combination is a maximum of 3.5 tons, the trailer may also weigh more than 750 kg.

The category B driving license is issued for an unlimited period.

• Valid identity card, electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport (with current registration certificate if applicable)
• Current biometric photo in accordance with the provisions of the Passport Ordinance (size 45x35 mm, portrait format, frontal view)
• Application for a driving license, if applicable
• Eye test certificate (not older than 2 years)
• Proof of participation in first aid training
• Details of the driving school

• You must have your main residence in the Federal Republic of Germany.
• The minimum age is 18 years. You can apply for an extension of your driving license at the earliest 6 months before reaching the minimum age.

• The fee is based on the scale of fees for road traffic measures (GebOSt).
• If the driver's license is sent directly to your home address, an additional shipping fee will be charged.

The application for the initial issue of a driving license expires if you have not passed the theory test within 12 months of receiving the test order or the practical test within 12 months of passing the theory test. There are also other deadlines that must be observed.

You will receive your first driving license on probation. The probationary period lasts 2 years.

• Driving license issued for the first time for category B
• Driving license category B allows driving with motor vehicles (except motorcycles)
  • up to 3,500 kilograms gross vehicle weight (GVW)
  • with up to 8 seats (in addition to the driver's seat)
  • also with trailers (maximum permissible mass 750 kilograms)
  • also with a heavier trailer, provided the combination does not exceed 3,500 kilograms
