Verlängerung einer befristeten Fahrerlaubnis der Klassen C, CE, C1 oder C1E

You can extend your category C, CE, C1, C1E driving license for five 5-year periods on application.

Your category C, CE, C1 or C1E driving license is valid for a maximum of 5 years. After that, you can apply to extend your driving license for a further 5 years.

• valid identity card, electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport (with current registration certificate if applicable)
• current driver's license
• current biometric photo in accordance with the provisions of the Passport Ordinance (size 45x35 mm, portrait format, frontal shot)
• Proof of eyesight (not older than 2 years)
• Proof of physical and mental aptitude (not older than 1 year)

• The fee is based on the scale of fees for road traffic measures (GebOSt).
• If the driver's license is sent directly to your home address, an additional shipping fee will be charged.

You can submit the application at the earliest 6 months before the expiry date of the previous driving license.

If you do not submit the application until after the expiry date of the previous driving license, a new driving license will be issued instead of an extension. The fact that you previously held a corresponding driving license will then no longer be evident from the new license.
