Professional Qualifications Assessment Act (BQFG)

Here you can have your professional qualification acquired abroad checked for equivalence to the training occupation of "assistant tax consultant" and, if necessary, have it determined.

According to the Professional Qualifications Assessment Act (BQFG), it is possible to have a professional qualification acquired abroad assessed and determined to be equivalent to a training occupation in Germany. An equivalence assessment for the reference occupation of "assistant tax consultant" requires an application for an equivalence assessment with the reference occupation of "assistant tax consultant".

• Curriculum vitae in German (tabular list of completed training and further education and employment)
• Copy of proof of identity (identity card or passport)
• Proof of change of name, if applicable
• Proof of educational qualifications obtained abroad
• Proof of relevant professional experience (e.g. job references, work books, letters of reference)
• Other proof of qualifications (e.g. certificates of further training or retraining)
• If you are not resident in the EU/EEA/Switzerland and are not a citizen of the EU/EEA/Switzerland, you must provide proof that you wish to work in Germany (e.g. application for an entry visa for gainful employment, contact with potential employers, business concept in the case of self-employment).

The documents must be submitted in German (with a certified translation if necessary). Translations must be prepared by interpreters or translators who are publicly appointed or sworn in Germany or abroad.

You can speed up the procedure by providing copies of your certificates as well as other documents that could be useful to the relevant Chamber of Tax Consultants in assessing your foreign qualification (e.g. timetables, annual reports, curricula, examination regulations).

In the course of the procedure, further documents may be requested which are necessary for the assessment of the submitted proof of qualification.

Your information is required for the decision on the application in accordance with the provisions of the BQFG. If you do not comply with your obligation to cooperate, your application may be rejected for this reason alone (§ 15 BQFG).
