If you are interested in a place on a degree program with local admission restrictions, please apply via the university's SIM portal. Two applications will be given equal consideration. Students who are already enrolled are generally excluded.

The number of prospective students in Germany exceeds the number of available study places in some degree programs. Central coordination in the local admissions procedure ensures that each applicant only receives one study place and that all available study places are allocated where possible. The universities will provide you with comprehensive advice on the allocation of study places.

• You have a university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur)
• You meet the individual requirements (e.g. Abitur grade)

You register in the respective SIM portal of the university. After logging into the admissions portal, you start the application process. You enter all the required information about the degree program you are applying for online, upload the necessary documents and submit the application.

You will be informed of the result of the application and document check by the university.

The processing time varies within the legally prescribed deadlines depending on the degree program. You will receive the letter of admission from the UdS and htw saar in August if you are applying for the winter semester and in February if you are applying for the summer semester. Processing is generally completed by the beginning of the semester.

For a winter semester, you must apply online by July 15. For a summer semester, apply online by January 15.

You will be informed on the websites of the universities whether other deadlines have been set.

• The admission requirements of the desired degree programs must be taken into account.
• It is important to adhere to the required form and deadline.
• If you do not meet the required prerequisites for a degree program or do not comply with the required form and deadline, your application cannot be considered.
• In some cases, you can claim compensation for disadvantages or hardship when applying for a place on a degree course with restricted admission. This can increase your chances of being admitted to the course.
• If you are admitted, you must enrol at the respective university.

• Appeal against the notification of admission or rejection
• A reasoned objection can be lodged within the legally stipulated period. The deadline is one month after receipt of the rejection or after you have taken note of it.
• If the objection is not upheld, a complaint can be filed with the competent administrative court.

If you are already enrolled at a university in Germany in the desired degree program, you are generally excluded from applying for a first semester.
