Approval as a transport company for animal transportation is required if you wish to transport vertebrate animals across national borders or within the country. Every animal transport can be stressful for the animals, especially if the usual care times are exceeded. It is therefore important to prepare the animals individually for the transport and to adjust the duration of the transport. You must meet the following requirements in order to obtain a license:
- You must have suitable personnel as well as the. necessary equipment.
- You must not have committed any serious breaches of animal welfare legislation in the last three years.
- Certificates of competence for drivers - also required if you are transporting farm animals over a distance of more than 65 km

The competent authority checks that the animals are transported in a proper and species-appropriate manner. The facilities and vehicles must be equipped accordingly to enable cleaning and disinfection and to keep the animals safe.
