Energiepreispauschale für Studierende, (Berufs-)Fachschülerinnen und Fachschüler beantragen

Are you studying or attending a technical or vocational college? Then you can apply for a flat-rate energy allowance under certain conditions. This is a subsidy towards your energy costs.

As a student or vocational school student, you can apply for an energy price lump sum as a one-off payment

The following groups of people can receive a one-off payment of EUR 200.00 to relieve them of the increased energy costs:

• Students and pupils in vocational school classes whose attendance requires a vocational qualification
• Pupils in vocational school classes and technical school classes that provide a vocational qualification in a training course lasting at least two years
• Pupils in comparable courses of education

If you belong to one of these groups, you can apply for the one-off payment online.

In order to support students with the increased costs for heating, electricity and food, the Bundestag has passed the law on one-off payments (energy price lump sum) for students and technical school pupils.

In addition, the state of Schleswig-Holstein has decreed an extension of the group of eligible applicants to include persons with permanent residence in Schleswig-Holstein who are enrolled or registered at educational institutions outside Germany in other European countries (EU, EEA and Switzerland). The energy price lump sum of 200 euros must be applied for.

There are two different methods for this. Detailed information can be found here:

• Access code (provided by the training center)
• PIN, if applicable (provided by the training center)
• IBAN from the SEPA area

This differs according to state and federal procedures. Please refer to the FAQ in the links above.

• You belong to one of the following groups of people:
  • Students
    • This also includes part-time students, doctoral students, students on a semester of leave, students at universities of applied sciences or students on a dual study program
  • Pupils in technical college classes whose attendance requires a vocational qualification
  • Pupils in technical college classes or vocational college classes that provide a vocational qualification in a training course lasting at least two years
  • Pupils in training courses at higher technical colleges and academies
  • Trainees on training courses at certain training institutions covered by the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG). Subject:
    • Trainees at a vocational college or a technical college who are completing a vocational qualification lasting at least two years
    • Trainees attending a technical college class that requires completed vocational training
• You were enrolled or registered at your training institution on December 1, 2022
• Your place of residence or habitual abode was in Germany on December 1, 2022
  • Persons who have completed a study visit or internship abroad limited to a maximum of 2 semesters and were still enrolled or registered at their educational institution in Germany at the same time generally have their habitual residence in Germany.

You can apply online for the flat-rate energy allowance for students and pupils at technical or vocational colleges. You will need a BundID account to apply.

• Register on the website www.einmalzahlung200.de with your BundID account.
• You will receive an access code and, if necessary, a PIN from your training institution.
• The form will guide you step by step through the required information.
• After submitting your application, it will be sent to the responsible office in the country and checked.
• You will usually receive your approval notification within a few minutes.

Payment of the energy price allowance is usually made within a few working days.

You can request the payout via the "Einmalzahlung200.de" online service.

You submit the application via the state procedure if you are resident in Schleswig-Holstein and were enrolled or registered at an educational institution within the EU, the EEA or Switzerland outside Germany (!) on December 1, 2022. You can request the payout via the online service "energiepreispauschale-ausland.antragsportal-studentenwerk.sh".

Please note: You can only apply for the grant once.

It usually only takes a few minutes to process applications until they are approved.

Payment is usually made within a few days of approval.

You must submit the application by September 30, 2023 at the latest.

• Action before the competent administrative court

• One-off energy price lump sum for students, technical students Grant Students and pupils from technical or vocational schools can apply for an energy price lump sum in the form of a one-off payment of EUR 200.00.
• Students must be enrolled as of December 1, 2022; students at technical or vocational schools and students on comparable courses must have been enrolled at the educational institution as of December 1, 2022.
• The applicant's place of residence or habitual abode must be in Germany
• Employed students who have received the energy allowance of EUR 300.00 for employed persons can also receive the one-off payment of EUR 200.00.
• BAföG recipients who receive the heating cost subsidy I and II can also receive the one-off payment of EUR 200.00.
• Flat-rate energy allowance
  • is not taxed
  • cannot be seized
  • is not taken into account for:
    • income-related benefits,
    • social benefits,
    • social security contributions and
    • the raising of costs in child and youth welfare
• Applications must be submitted by September 30, 2023.
• Responsible: The competent authority is determined by the implementing ordinance of the respective federal state. These implementing ordinances are usually published in the legal portal of the federal state.

• In Schleswig-Holstein there is a special regulation:
  • The one-off payment of 200 euros for students and vocational school pupils under the Student Energy Price Lump Sum Act Supplementary Act (EPPSG) was initiated by the state of Schleswig-Holstein in order to close a loophole in the federal law.
  • Students, pupils residing in Schleswig-Holstein who attend an educational institution in the EU/EEC and Switzerland are not taken into account there, for example cross-border commuters to a university or certain vocational schools in Denmark. The state of Schleswig-Holstein also wants to grant these people an energy price lump sum, provided they have their permanent residence in Schleswig-Holstein. This was regulated in the Student Energy Price Lump Sum Supplementary Act (EPPSEG).

  • Important: However, you must not have already submitted an application for https://www.einmalzahlung200.de/eppsg-de or have already received a grant there. Our state regulation in Schleswig-Holstein is only intended to close a justice gap, but not to grant double funding.
