Pupil transportation is the responsibility of the school authorities of the public schools located in the districts. In some cases, however, the district is directly responsible for school transport. The school authorities or districts are responsible for the implementation and organization of this task.
Not all pupils are covered by the regulations on school transport. For example, no such benefits are provided for pupils in years 11 to 13 and for those in the independent cities. Nor is school transport provided for pupils attending vocational schools.
The other requirements for school transport are regulated by the respective school transport statutes of the districts.
The school transport statutes of the districts may stipulate that parents or pupils of full age must contribute to the costs of school transport.
