Behavioral measures in the event of a wildlife accident.

If game, whether alive or already dead, is lying on the road, the scene of the accident should be secured with a warning triangle and/or hazard warning lights to protect following traffic and prevent further accidents.

Dead game should only be removed from the road if this is possible without endangering yourself. An injured animal may only be killed by an authorized and competent person (e.g. the person authorized to hunt). Veterinary treatment is generally not possible.

Please stay as far away from the injured animal as possible, as the closer you get to the injured animal, the more stressed it becomes.

Note to avoid wildlife accidents - there is an increased risk of accidents:

• generally in the morning and evening and
• in the field/forest transition area.
• Also in July and August when roe deer are rutting.

The police have maps showing the authorized hunter to be notified. If you know the owner of the hunting ground, you can also contact them directly.
