Gesundheitsberufe, Gesundheitsfachberufe: Erlaubnis zum Führen der Berufsbezeichnung

Professional titles in healthcare professions (e.g. occupational therapist, speech therapist) require a license.

Anyone wishing to use a professional title in one of the following healthcare professions requires a license:

• geriatric nurse,
• geriatric nursing assistant,
• nursing assistant,
• dietary assistant,
• occupational therapist,
• Healthcare and pediatric nurse,
• Healthcare and nursing assistant / healthcare and nursing assistant,
• Nursing specialist
• Speech therapist,
• massage therapist and medical bath attendant,
• Medical-technical laboratory assistant (foreign recognition),
• Medical-technical radiology assistant / medical-technical radiology assistant,
• Medical-technical assistant for functional diagnostics (foreign recognition),
• Orthoptist,
• Pharmaceutical-technical assistant,
• Physiotherapist,
• podiatrist and
• Emergency paramedic (formerly: paramedic).
• Paramedic

As different documents may be required, it is recommended that you contact the responsible office (SHIBB Landesamt) in advance.

The granting of permission to use the professional title is subject to various requirements. These are

• the successful completion of training at a training center in Schleswig-Holstein or
• an equivalent training qualification abroad,
• personal and health suitability for practicing the profession.

• A fee of EUR 40.00 is charged for taking the examination prescribed in the respective professional laws,
• for the recognition of foreign qualifications, a fee of 40.00 to 225.00 Euro

in accordance with the state ordinance on administrative fees.
