Volltext

A coat of arms is a symbol in the form of a shield created according to certain rules. Coats of arms represent people, families, certain groups of people or personified objects, organizations and communities. Each federal state has its own coat of arms. In addition, there are the coats of arms of the municipalities.

The use of the respective coat of arms of the community requires the approval of the state or the respective municipality.

Hinweise

The Schleswig-Holstein coat of arms is a state emblem and is specially protected.

In principle, only state authorities and notaries may use it. Any other use of the coat of arms that goes beyond an artistic, artistic-commercial or heraldic-scientific purpose (heraldry = coat of arms) as well as for the purposes of teaching and civic education is only permitted with the approval of the Ministry of the Interior, Municipal Affairs, Housing and Sport of the State of Schleswig-Holstein permitted. In order to preserve the character of the state coat of arms as a state sovereign symbol and to avoid the impression of a state measure, involvement or sponsorship, permission is not granted to private individuals, companies, associations and organizations to use the state coat of arms on letterheads, brochures and other printed matter, on websites and on articles of daily use and so on.

Further information on state symbols can be found on the internet portal of the state government of Schleswig-Holstein and the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
