The volunteer members of the volunteer fire brigade help people in emergency situations.

You don't need any previous experience. Simply contact the fire brigade in your municipality.

Admission to the volunteer fire brigade is subject to the following requirements. You must

• be at least 17 years old (if you are younger, you can join a youth fire brigade),
• have a good physical and mental constitution,
• agree to a longer period of service and
• must not have committed any offences under the Criminal Code (e.g. arson).

Some municipalities have specific requirements. You should therefore enquire with your local fire brigade about the requirements for admission. This also applies to any documents that may be required.

There are no costs for you. Your municipality will provide you with the necessary service and protective clothing and will also bear the training costs.

When you join the fire brigade, you will receive in-depth basic training.
You should then take part in regular training events.
Depending on your aptitude and personal wishes, you can also attend additional training courses.

Please note: Admission is on probation for the first 12 months.
