Anyone who has reached the age of 14 can declare their resignation from a church, religious community or ideological community. For a person who has not reached the age of 14, the legal representative who has custody of the person (parents, or one parent if applicable) may declare withdrawal from the church. In the case of a child who has reached the age of 12, the resignation cannot be declared against his/her will.

The withdrawal from the church becomes effective on the day of the declaration.

The obligation to pay church tax ends at the end of the month in which the declaration became effective.

The fee for the declaration of withdrawal/transfer after reaching the age of 14 is EUR 15.00.

The resignation/transfer declaration for a person before reaching the age of 14 is free of charge.
