All-day schools comprise the lower secondary level (grades 5 to 10) of general education schools. They create a variety of additional interesting and stimulating learning, leisure and supervision opportunities for pupils, including in cooperation with extracurricular partners, where the focus is on promoting the individual learning process.
All-day schools are generally set up and run in a tied form and provide an all-day offer for all pupils on at least three days a week, which comprises at least seven hours* a day.
*These seven hours also include regular lessons.
On all days of the all-day program, the participating pupils are provided with a warm lunch.
The specific organization of the all-day program on site is the responsibility of the individual school according to the pedagogical concept.
Full half-day primary school
Full half-day schools are elementary school with fixed opening hours that integrate additional educational activities into the half-day schedule in addition to compulsory lessons. The time frame can be up to six hours and takes local circumstances into account. The establishment of a full half-day school expands the school's educational options. This makes it easier for families to plan their time and daily routine.
The school authority provides the material and spatial requirements necessary for the implementation of all-day schooling.
The all-day school offers are free of charge and accessible to all pupils. In exceptional cases, third-party services may be offered for a fee.
Lunch is subject to a charge.
The school conference decides on the application for the establishment of an all-day school or the conversion of an open all-day school into a tied organizational form. The decision must be forwarded to the school authority. If the school authority agrees to the establishment of an all-day school, the school management submits the application to the responsible state education authority. If the school authority agrees to the conversion of an open all-day school into a tied form, it shall submit the application to the responsible state education authority. The application must be submitted to the responsible state education authority by September 30 for the following school year.
If approval is granted after examination of the pedagogical and content-related requirements, the notice of approval will be issued to the school by May 31 of the following year at the latest.
