You must always register for dog tax when you take in a dog to keep. You can obtain further information via the location search of the municipality responsible for you.

The cities and municipalities decide whether to levy a dog tax and how to structure it. The structure is set out in the respective dog tax statutes.
The individual municipality determines the tax rates and payment modalities for its municipal area in the bylaws. You will also find regulations on exemptions from the tax obligation or the granting of reductions in the statutes of the respective municipality.

If you have taken a dog into your household or business, you are obliged to register the dog in the municipality of residence, provided the municipality has issued a dog tax statute.

Please note that special requirements apply to the keeping of dangerous dogs. You must therefore have a permit to keep a dangerous dog. You must apply for the permit separately from the responsible regulatory authority.
