People in need of care who are not cared for at home make use of full inpatient care in a nursing home.
Full inpatient care means that those in need of care are looked after and cared for in a nursing home.
The provision of medical care in nursing homes is no different from that for other insured persons who live at home. Residents of nursing homes have a free choice of doctor.
In the case of full inpatient care, long-term care insurance pays flat-rate benefits for care-related expenses, including the costs of care and the costs of medical treatment services in nursing homes.
The benefits for full inpatient care are as follows per month
- for care level 1: 125 euros allowance,
- for care level 2: 770 euros
- for care level 3: 1,262 euros,
- for care level 4: 1,775 euros and
- for care level 5: 2,005 euros
If the care insurance benefit is not sufficient to cover the care-related expenses, the person in need of care must pay a personal contribution.
In addition to the care-related co-payment, there are further costs for those in need of care in the case of full inpatient care:
- Costs for accommodation and meals.
- If applicable, separately calculable investment costs These are expenses incurred by the operator for purchases, building rent and similar, which can be passed on to those in need of care.
- Costs for special comfort or additional services must also be paid privately.
As a general rule, the costs for meals, accommodation, investments and comfort services vary greatly depending on the facility. It is therefore advisable to obtain detailed information when choosing a home.
In addition to the care-related personal contribution, there are also costs for the training supplement for those in need of full inpatient care.
- Ask the relevant long-term care insurance fund what documents are required and whether there is a special application form.
- Only applies to people in need of care with care levels 2 to 5.
- People in need of care with care level 1 receive an allowance of 125 euros per month if they choose full inpatient care.
- You submit an application for care in a fully inpatient facility to your care insurance fund.
- You can obtain information on the required documents and the procedure from your care insurance fund.
You can also obtain further information from your regional care support center.
If you can no longer manage independently at home due to your need for care and cannot be cared for at home, care in an approved nursing home is necessary.
