Applications are submitted informally in the form of a letter. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, applications have so far only been carried out against the oak processionary moth. The preparatory work required for aerial forest protection measures in accordance with the decree of the Ministry for Climate Protection, Agriculture, Rural Areas and the Environment of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is only carried out by the State Forestry Agency, an institution under public law.

The informal application must contain information on the following points, among others:

• Technology
• Plant protection products
• Reason for use.

The plant protection product applied for must be authorized or approved by the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety for use with aircraft.
