Anyone wishing to practise falconry must be in possession of a valid hunting license and a valid falconry hunting license.
The first issue of a falconry hunting license is dependent on the applicant having passed a falconry test in addition to the simplified hunting test (without shooting test). The applicant must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the keeping, care and removal of birds of prey, the protection of birds of prey and falconry.
A falconry hunting license is issued upon application to the competent lower hunting authority (place of residence). The prerequisite for the issue of a falconry hunting license is the issue of a hunting license.
The following documents are required for the issue of a hunting license:
- fully completed application for a hunting license from the competent lower hunting authority
- Identity card/passport
- Proof of sufficient hunting liability insurance for the requested term: minimum cover of EUR 50,000 for property damage, EUR 500,000 for personal injury
- Lease or paid permit contract, if applicable
- First issue: Examination certificate for passing the simplified hunting examination, certificate "competent person", photograph
- New issue: hunting license
- The following documents are also required for the issue of a falconry hunting license:
- Fully completed application for the issue of a falconry hunting license from the competent lower hunting authority
- Initial issue: certificate of passing the falconry examination, photograph
- New issue: Falconry hunting license
If you are entitled to a fee reduction, this must be noted in the application and proven in a suitable form.

- Minimum age 18 years, at the age of 16 at the earliest, the falconry youth hunting license with restrictions can be issued by the lower hunting authority

The costs for issuing a falconry hunting license are made up of the hunting license fees in accordance with the Hunting Fees Ordinance M-V and the hunting levy in accordance with the Hunting Levy Ordinance M-V.
- Issue of an annual hunting license for one, two or three hunting years: EUR 70.00
- Issue of a falconry hunting license for one, two or three hunting years: EUR 40.00
- Issuance of falconry youth hunting licenses
a) for one hunting year: EUR 10.00
b) for two hunting years: EUR 15.00
- As a hunting levy pursuant to § 16 (2) and (3) of the State Hunting Act, the purchaser of the
a) Hunting license including hunting license for foreigners: EUR 25.50 per year
b) Falconry hunting license EUR 13.00 per year
c) youth falconer's hunting license EUR 5.00 per year
d) the hunting tenant (single, joint or sub-tenant) EUR 25.50.
After the application for the hunting and falconry license has been submitted to the lower hunting authority, the required reliability check is carried out. After approx. 3 to 4 weeks, the information from the responsible authorities is available. If the reliability is given, the hunting license and falconry license can be issued upon presentation of valid liability insurance and payment of the hunting license fee.
Anyone wishing to practise falconry must be in possession of a valid hunting license and a valid falconry hunting license.
